How we calculate GPU power requirements

GPU TDP is the rated thermal design power under typical load. The calculator adjusts TDP by your configured power limit percentage, multiplies by GPU count, adds system base power, then applies a 20% PSU headroom factor to arrive at the recommended PSU wattage.

PSU Size = (GPU TDP × Power Limit% × Count + System Base) × 1.2

Annual electricity cost is calculated from total system draw at your target utilization hours per day. A Gold PSU (87% efficiency) at 600W load draws ~690W from the wall versus ~732W for a Bronze unit.

Do I need a special PSU for a high-end GPU?
